Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Cusipata- Acomayo – Waqra Pucara – Cusco.

Early Morning Pickup: Your day begins with an early pickup from your hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 AM.

Breakfast in Cusipata : Enjoy a traditional breakfast in a local restaurant in the town of Cusipata, setting the stage for the day’s adventure.

Trek to Waqra Pukara: Starting the trek, expect a 3-hour journey through stunning inter-Andean valleys, accompanied by the sight of shepherds or farmers with their llamas and alpacas.

Exploring Waqra Pukara: Upon arrival at Waqra Pukara, you’ll have ample time to explore the ruins and soak in the site’s living energy. 

Lunch and return to Cusco: The day concludes with a return trek to the starting point, followed by transportation back to Cusco, arriving around 7:00 PM.

Note: Participants should be in good physical condition and acclimatized to the altitude. We recommend undertaking this trek after visiting Machu Picchu for optimal acclimatization.

My trek to Waqra Pukara was an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Andes. The early morning pickup from Cusco was seamless, and the drive to Acomayo was filled with anticipation for the day ahead.

The traditional breakfast in Acomayo provided a taste of authentic Peruvian cuisine, fueling us for the trek ahead. The 3-hour journey to Waqra Pukara was filled with stunning vistas of the surrounding valleys, showcasing the natural beauty of the region.

Exploring the ruins of Waqra Pukara was a highlight of the day. The site’s historical significance and mystical atmosphere left a lasting impression. The lunch provided was delicious and much-needed after the trek.
