Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Mollepata - Challacancha - Soraypampa

We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 am, then travel to the town of Mollepata (2-hour journey), where we will have breakfast (not included). We will then continue to the starting point at Challacancha (1-hour journey).

After a short rest, we will start walking towards Soraypampa at 3800 meters above sea level, an ideal part of the trail to acclimatize to the altitude. Once there, we will head to our camp in Soraypampa to leave our things and have lunch. After lunch, we will prepare to ascend to our destination, Humantay Lagoon at 4200 meters above sea level (1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking).

Along the way, we will appreciate the snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay mountains. Once we reach the lagoon, we will have enough time to explore and take the best photos. Later, we will return to our camp in Soraypampa, which takes about 1 hour of descent, where we will have dinner and sleep.

Day 2Soraypampa - Salkantay Pass - Cusco

After a good breakfast, we will start walking early towards the Salkantay Pass at 4600 meters above sea level. Along the ascent, we will appreciate beautiful natural landscapes with stone forests. Once we reach the Salkantay Pass, we will have enough time to take a group photo and observe the snow-capped peak up close.

Later, we will start descending back to the starting point of our hike, Soraypampa, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch and take a nap. Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00 pm.

The 2-day trek to Laguna Humantay was simply breathtaking. From the very start, the natural beauty of the Andean landscape left us speechless. Camping under a starry sky was one of the highlights of the trip, with the serene sounds of nature all around. Reaching the lagoon the next day was the crowning moment: the turquoise waters surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains are something I’ll never forget. The guides were professional and attentive, making sure every detail of the trip was perfect. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves nature and adventure.
