Go on a tour of the South Valley, just outside of Cusco. It’s a great place to explore this beautiful region and enjoy a unique tourism experience that combines culture and nature.
Discover how the Incas mastered hydraulic engineering in Tipón, a masterpiece they left to humanity: agricultural terraces, enclosures, water channels.
You will be amazed by its Inca constructions!
On this excursion, Tipon, Piquillaqta and Andahuaylillas, you will enter the picturesque southern valley, a tourist route not very popular with many travellers, now considered a new tourist alternative in Cusco.
During the tour we will see the town of Oropesa with its giant chuta bread, the town of Tipon famous for the sale of baked guinea pig and the town of Saylla with its traditional dish of pork cracklings. This tour runs every day and can be booked one day in advance.
At 8:30, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken on a trip to the south of the city of Cusco, also known as the South Valley. On the way, you will stop at the archaeological site of Tipon.
Once you arrive, you will see the impressive archaeological complex of Tipón, a place of worship for water. Archaeologists say that it is the second largest example of Inca hydraulic engineering after Machu Picchu.
You will be amazed!
The last stop will be in Andahuaylillas, where you will see the Sistine Chapel of the Americas. This is a peaceful village where you can see the ceiling and walls filled with artistic paintings made by the Cusco School in the 16th century.
After visiting this amazing place, you will have about 30 minutes free in Saylla for a drink.
Finally, you will return to the Plaza de Armas in Cusco around 3:00 p.m.
The tour lasts approximately 6 hours, starting at 8:50 a.m. and ending around 3:00 p.m.
The tour includes transportation to and from your hotel, a tour guide, and entrance fees to the archaeological sites and the church.
It is recommended to bring comfortable clothing, sunscreen, water, and a camera to capture the stunning landscapes and monuments.
No, the tour is suitable for everyone, as the guide will provide all the necessary information during the visits.
The archaeological sites have paths and areas that are easily accessible, although some parts may require short walks.
This tour through the South Valley was a fascinating experience. The hydraulic engineering of Tipón is impressive, and the pre-Inca ruins of Piquillacta transport you to another era. The Sistine Chapel of Andahuaylillas is simply spectacular. Our guide was very informative and brought history to life. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cusco.
