At 7:20 AM, we’ll gather to board the train departing from Ollantaytambo, transporting you to Km. 104 along the tracks. The journey offers breathtaking views as the train winds its way through the Andean landscape, taking approximately 1 hour to reach our destination.
At Km. 104 (2,200 m / 7,217 ft), our adventure begins with the short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. We’ll cross the bridge over the sacred Urubamba or Willkamayu River, an essential lifeline for the ancient Inca civilization. Upon reaching the control point, we’ll present our identification documents before embarking on our trek.
Our first stop is the archaeological sites of Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy, nestled within the lush semi-tropical forest. As we ascend along the terraced trails, we’ll be treated to stunning vistas of the Sacred Valley, cascading waterfalls, and a variety of orchids native to the region.
