After a nourishing breakfast at your hotel, prepare for an exhilarating day ahead. At 7:20 AM, we’ll gather to board the train departing from Ollantaytambo, transporting you to Km. 104 along the tracks. The journey offers breathtaking views as the train winds its way through the Andean landscape, taking approximately 1 hour to reach our destination.

At Km. 104 (2,200 m / 7,217 ft), our adventure begins with the short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. We’ll cross the bridge over the sacred Urubamba or Willkamayu River, an essential lifeline for the ancient Inca civilization. Upon reaching the control point, we’ll present our identification documents before embarking on our trek.

Our first stop is the archaeological sites of Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy, nestled within the lush semi-tropical forest. As we ascend along the terraced trails, we’ll be treated to stunning vistas of the Sacred Valley, cascading waterfalls, and a variety of orchids native to the region.

After approximately 3 hours of trekking, we’ll arrive at Wiñaywayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), a remarkable Inca site boasting circular terraces and the Temple of the Rainbow, also known as the Temple of Fertility. Here, we’ll pause for a guided tour and enjoy a box lunch to refuel for the journey ahead.

Continuing our trek, we’ll traverse stone staircases and ancient tambos (resting places) for 2 hours until we reach Inti Punku – Puerta del Sol (2,720 m / 8,923 ft). This strategic vantage point offers awe-inspiring panoramic views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding valley.

You’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the most important landmarks within Machu Picchu, immersing yourself in its mystical atmosphere and rich cultural heritage.

Following the guided tour, you’ll have free time to further explore Machu Picchu at your own pace.
